Nigeria: President Tinubu to Implement Long-Awaited Oransanye Report
Nigeria: The much awaited Oransanye report would be implemented by President Tinubu.
President Bola Tinubu has finally acted to put the Stephen Oransanye report’s suggestions for reorganizing Nigeria’s federal agencies into action, twelve years after it was submitted.
The 2011 study, ordered by former President Goodluck Jonathan, recommended that a number of unnecessary and ineffective government parastatals be consolidated, merged, or eliminated.
Nevertheless, up to now, no administration has taken any meaningful action on the findings.
Following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Monday, Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information, declared that Tinubu had accepted extensive reforms that were based on the recommendations of the Oransanye Committee.
He stated several agencies will be abolished, integrated with others, or restructured. Idris portrayed the actions as a cost-cutting effort to streamline governance. He also reassured staff that the shake-up will not immediately harm jobs.
